Assessment & Testing Information
The Museum School of East Dallas (TMS) is committed to transparency in student assessment. In compliance with Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) (20 U.S.C. § 6312(e)(2)(B)), the following information outlines all required state and local assessments administered at TMS.
State Required Assessments
STAAR Assessment (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness)
Subject Areas Assessed:

Reading Language Arts (grades 3–8)

Social Studies (grade 8)
Purpose:
STAAR measures student mastery of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and determines student readiness for the next grade level.
Source of Requirement:
Required by the State of Texas under Texas Education Code and administered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
Time & Format:

Administered annually in the spring

Computer-based format (with paper accommodations when applicable)

Untimed, typically completed within a school day
Schedule:
Administered during the official Texas testing window (typically April–May). Exact dates are shared annually on the TMS Parent Calendar.
Results:

Preliminary results available within weeks

Final results shared with families via the state portal and school communication

Results are typically distributed in late spring to early summer

TMS is committed to timely and clear communication of assessment results:
